The Red Lion Area Junior High School shootings was a school shooting that occurred on April 24, 2003, at Red Lion Area Junior High School, a middle school in Red Lion, Pennsylvania, United States. James Sheets, a 14-year-old student at the school, armed himself with 3 hand guns, 2 revolvers and one semi automatic handgun. The shooting took place in the cafeteria where students congregated before the start of classes. James removed a .44-caliber handgun from his backpack, with which he used to shoot principal Dr. Eugene Segro, just before turning a .22-caliber handgun on himself and committing suicide. Police were not able to identify a motive for the shooting.
The students evacuated at the sound of the gunshots and fled to the nearby high school. Dr. Segro was pronounced dead at nearby York Hospital.
